Default Metallic Rattle Sound When Cold

Our 7 has develped a metallic rattle sound at idle coming from under the car when cold which mostly dissapates at FOT...anyone else?

No but I’ve had this on another car. Part of the exhaust shielding had loosened and rattled when cold. As it heated up and the metal expanded it went away.

Don’t have the car any more but it was a loose metallic rattle. They replaced part of the exhaust and it went away.

Had the exact same thing on another car as well - exhaust shield was loose. Super easy fix...if can locate the loose part!

Thanks for the replies, it could very well be a heat shield but to clarify, it sounds more like a metallic ticking. II'll try to make a decent recrding but the regular engin/fan noise seems to drown it out.

Ok more info, I tracked down the noise to the rear of the vehicle and it occurs after I rev it and as the revs drops it almost sounds like a rapid ticking of an old school typewriter, must be somehting in the exhaust or in a muffler. Sound does not go away when at FOT. tried to make another recording but the background noise from the engine drowned it out too much. Will try agin.
