Wow. This most of the time stuff makes me nervous. So far so good but I’m only 1k miles in. I have noticed the door unlock lock with hand issue here and there as well. Thanks for the info.

It's the step back part. I can kick from any side or even wave my foot under the bumper anywhere near the middle. But then you must step back. If you do, the trunk will open every time. There is a slight delay. Not like when you are closing the trunk and it tries to hit you in the head every time. That is where the delay should be.
