Default Winter Tires

I get this offer. I live in northern MN and wonder if I really need winter tires with my 2018 Q 7. We've had 10 inches of snow so far, no problems. We should have 12 feet be March, roads plowed quickly.
Thanks.

I would say that if you value the safety of your family and yourself, you should be learning about real snow tires.

Personally, the Audi dealer would not be on my short list of potential vendors unless you're hung up on a wheel design they offer. Some of our sponsors are selling some really nice designs for far less $$$.

Welcome aboard, Dallas!!

That price sucks, not surprisingly. You can easily find wheels & tires as good or better on TireRack or DiscountTire for under $1800.

If you've never driven with real snow tires, you should do so -- they are so much better than all-seasons. For safety of myself and family, I always get dedicated snows. Check out this thread for lots of wheel / tire options that are much more cost effective than Audi. https://www.audiworld.com/forums/q7-...inter-2936347/

I bought a used set of OEM 20s off this very forum that had 200 miles on them. Not a scratch. I bought Nokian R3s and it cost me about $2700 total. The Audi snow rims are ugly and those tires are junk.

I would not go OEM with this.

Up North in the Woods, Northern Minnesota... I am in Rochester, but travel often to Arrowhead and Lake of the Woods NW Angle and Canada. Trust me you'll be glad to have winter tires (which come cheaper and better from Tire Rack than those from Audi - as others stated).

R3’s with 20” TSWs (I did R2’s because R3’s weren’t out yet) are going to be way cheaper and significantly better performance/value than OEM.

I'm taking the plunge on adding snow tires for my 2017 Prestige with the 20" Conti Run-Flats (my wife was sliding off the road during the 6" snow storm that hit a couple of weeks back and shut down the entire NYC metro area).

Question, does anyone swap the tires off the same rims seasonally, or is it standard to just buy a new set of rims as well?
