Thanks everyone - I ended up taking it apart and noticed the fuse on the back of the radio was blown. This was one of three fuses the previous owner had wired up. So, it works, but the cassette still sucks. That's ok because a friend and I installed an aux jack and now I can play mp3s through the blaupunkt. Tapes are more hassle than they are worth anyway.
