Please document the process. I'll be doing this sometime in the near future as well.

I understand that removing the dash trim is a bitch on the S4.
Not the case as in the A6/S6/RS6/allroad where it is just pull and replace.

B5? Yeah, it's a pain.
Midway thru the process:

Set aside most of the day to do it. Doors are pretty easy but the big dash piece is the monster.

Wish I could come help out but weekends are bad
for me since I usually have my son with me and he's not much help working on cars. ;-)
There are so many small steps to the process it would be nearly impossible to document the whole thing. The whole reason for taking the dash apart at all is that there are thin metal clips on the back of the trip that hold it to the dash. They are a total bitch to get off, and you will probably not get through the day without a few scratches on your hands from digging around in there.
As you can see from the pic, I kept the radio assembly pretty much intact, just pulled it out of the way as far as possible. Before working on it, we went to the auto parts store and bought a trim removal tool which you're welcome to use if you want it:

It helped quite a bit getting behind "the big one" and prying those clips off.
The process is time consuming but not too difficult. Once I figured out how to take it all apart, putting it back together was pretty easy since it was still fresh in the memory.

I have extensive experience drinking beer and supervising many projects, however
the actual work I leave to others. I can also do some serious damage to pizza.
Oh, I also don't have but a few usefull tools.
Best of luck!
Let me know if I can crash the party. ;-)

So I got no love from the RM forum - slm you can definitely come over for some pizza and beers.
I will let you know when I'm doing it. I have a friend or 2 that will lend a hand, but none of us have ever done it before. Hopefully I don't end up with a bunch of broken ****. We have alot of tools- thanks to hotani for the trim puller which will come in handy- and some handiness. Hopefully it goes smoothly. The CF trim is going to look SICK!!!!
