Spoiler: the RS7 wins both easily. The journalists think it's mostly due to four-wheel vs two-wheel drive. They're wrong -- it's the RS7's superior transmission. Chris Harris, an exceptionally good car journalist, explains it in this great review of the RS6:

Oct 2013 issue of C&D did a comparo of the RS7 vs M6 GC vs CLS63 AMG-S with 4matic:
Based on their testing scheme, the Benz took the early lead to 60mph (3.2 vs RS7's 3.4) but were dead even at the 1/4 mile at 11.6 secs, except the RS7 trapped 1 mph more at 123 mph vs Benz's 122, but by 130mph the RS7 was .5 secs ahead... this despite being "down on power" and being heavier, which certainly suggested what Chris Harris and someone else had thought that it was the transmission that made the biggest difference.
