Thinking of buying this - extended warranty?
Hi all,
I have never owned an RS7 before but I'm thinking of buying this:
https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inventorylisting/viewDetailsFilterViewInventoryListing.action?entit ySelectingHelper.selectedEntity=d2230&latitude=33. 648903&longitude=-117.758255#listing=164606891
it seems like a good deal but it's out of the warranty period.
I used to own a BMW M5 E60 and would never touch one with a barge pole without an extended warranty and would appreciate your thoughts.
ive been quoted $4700 for a warranty up to 60k miles.
thanks in advance,
Richard

It should be in its warranty period, Audi's come with a 4 year warranty, so you should have some warranty left. Agree about the BMWs, they start to come apart from a certain age (coolant, gaskets, transmissions) - all personal experience :-/
Regardless, this RS7 has about 18k miles put on it per year which is very high so you're entering into this knowing it is well used and that issues will naturally start to arise as the mileage racks up. If you add the $5k an extended warranty price then for $10k more you could find an RS7 with mid-teens, low 20's mileage which would be a better path to follow. For a typical driver with 10k miles/yr then you've added 3 more years of life to your purchase.
Cheers
