Default Advice for S4 owner thinking about RS4

Folks,

I realize I am asking the most biased group about advice on an RS4, but here goes.... I own a 2004 S4 (Miltek exhaust) and love it as my daily driver. Am thinking about going for the RS4 to get the extra performance edge. That said, have not driven one and would not want to trade into a ride that was all about performance and no daily comfort/drivability (would go for a GT3 if I wanted that).

So, for those that have driven an S4, is the RS4 ride much more punishing?

Thanks.

Default Don't drive it unless you are are willing to buy it!!

That was my mistake..Went from an 05.5 S4. It is smoother than my S4 for sure.....I had considered Statis, milltek, chip on my S4. You will take a little bath on the trade/sale, and that is something to consider. I saw a dyno on her of an S4 with chip/milltek that put out near the same whp as the RS4. Something to consider...Since you have the Milltek already...Upgrade to Stasis and alcons, and you have one seriously handling vehicle..That said, the two engines do not compare...the RS4 is an amazingly smooth piece of art!!! Drive one..but be forewarned!!

Default Much smoother ride but it also corners with a much improved body roll, also...

don't let the dyno numbers worry you too much, in real life it is amazingly quick. 0 to 100 mine stays just ahead of my friend's E55. My B6 S4 (catback only) could never begin to do that. As the others have warned you, don't drive it unless you plan to buy it.

Default McGyver's right...

I put my first 80 miles, (highway) on the car today. After driving an 04 S4 6MT for the last 3 yrs., on the Stock Conti's and Winter Blizzak LM-25's, I had gotten used to feeling the road. Feedback was great and I had no more fun than driving in high speed highway traffic every day. But - Driving the RS4 today was a completely different feel., The first comparison I thought of, was how the RS4's ride feels smooth and so steady, but that you're still able to feel every contour of the road...I loved my S4, and now i'm really loving the RS4... Go Bears! May the Winds of Lake Michigan Howl!
