Another Snow Tire Question
Greetings, I am new to this forum and hope to take delivery of my RS4 this Friday. I know the snow tire topic has been beaten to death but I have a question more specifically about Nokian tires. I need to get a set of rims and was thinking about the Hartmann 18" B5 RS4's that will fit without spacers. My question is what size tire can I put on those rims without screwing up any of the electronic or Quattro systems. I want to get Nokians but they only come in the following sizes...
225/40R18 92R XL
235/50R18 101R XL
235/40R18 95R XL
245/40R18 97R XL
255/45R18 103R XL
For those of you who run Hartmann's will any of these tire sizes work? Thanks for any help.

Here...
What I think you want to know is which tire has the closest circumference. Here are the numbers compared to stock.
225/40R18 (-3.6%) load rating may be inadequate
235/50R18 (+4.7%)
235/40R18 (-2.4%)
245/40R18 (-1.2%)
255/45R18 (+3.9%)
Choice 3 or 4 are your best bets. Personally, I would go with OEM 19's and 255/35-19 Dunlop M3's.

Thank you
From those results it looks like the 245/40's are the way to go if I want the Nokian's. Does that -1.2% have any "real world" consequences? And will they fit properly? Thanks again for the help.

Minimal real world difference
Your speedometer will read a little faster than your actual speed (read 60 MPH when traveling 59.3) but the Audi speedometers are typically a little fast anyway. The tire will be 10 mm narrower (5mm each side) and you will probably not notice much of a difference. Depending on the manufacturer, tires vary in width from their "rated" value a little.

I think 225's are narrow enough you would need spacers or a more aggressive offset to look right
Aesthetics aside, they should perform better than the wider sizes.
