Anyone else having fun with lap timer?

Interesting use of lap timer #2:
For discovering that oil temperature readout lags behind real-time by ~30 seconds.
Or, should I say, it takes 30 seconds to see the impact of full-throttle blasts on oil temperature.
I found this to be handy during break-in.

During Break-in: 190-230; After-Break-in 190+...
Based on the Owner's manual, you aren't even supposed to BOTHER checking the oil level unless the oil is 190F or greater.
I use 190F, therefore, as the green light to STOMP on it.
During break-in, I watched oil temps like a hawk, comparing them to ambient temperatures and engine load. From that, I decided that 230F was probably the highest you wanted to see before giving the motor a cool-down period.
It's pretty easy to get the oil temp into the high 240s and 250s, such as when ascending a mountain pass at full-chat, but I don't think you want your motor to see that kind of internal temperature until after the break-in is done.
Once it is, I don't think the car cares, because there is no such thing as an "oil temperature warning".

At speeds in excess of 140mph, I saw...
On my Bullrun this year, there were several occassions where we were doing 160+ indicated.
I think the highest temps we saw were in the 230's.
That was with 3 people in the car, pegged, across the desert with 110 degree ambient temperatures at better than 3,000 ft above sea level.
No issues.
