Default Anyone expect the used RS4 pricing to begin stablizing?

Like the RS6 did a few years back. They dropped initially and then began to gain some of their value back in the 2 year old to 4 year range.

This car has some of the same factors
Limited production
Highest performance
Nothing else quite like it on the market
Nothing else quite like it sold by Audi (although R8 may be a factor)
Dollar taking a beating meaning the next version will likely jump by another 20k when it comes out

Hopeful...

I really think the gas prices are going to affect resale value. True they are stopping production, but the car seems underrated, ask a normal non-car enthusiast what an RS4 is, they will say what?? S4? M3?

and I thought next RS car will be the 5?

Theres a website that searches all of the used car sites, there are 261 RS4s available for sale right now, some of them being on the market for a few months (I have been looking for an RS4 for the past 1/2-3/4 yr. so seen some of these over and over)

Seems like price will go lower.

What's wrong with the prices? I guess they are like on any other car.

Default Only in year 2 did RS6 prices hold, been dropping steady ever since. Cars coming off lease and

RS4 introduction sped it up a little. RS4 is in greater numbers so I would expect it to keep a constant decline. However the only good news is that the RS6 has held significantly better than than 2003 offerings from BMW (M5) and MB E55.

Default I thought about gas prices

But then who can afford this car and worries about spending a little extra at the gas station.

Default I doubt it...

The first 800 RS6's held their value for the first year, and then dropped quickly when Audi unloaded and additional 400 cars near the end of production in late 2003. By spring 2004, Audi was giving dealers incentives to move the unsold RS6's they dumped in the US. The cars held pretty steady at that price for about a year and then started to decline. It was never a linear decline, but when the RS4 came out, the RS6 really started to depreciate. That may have also been partially due to the fact the many of those cars were running out of warranty.

IMHO, the RS4 is a better car but again Audi made too many. Total US production is about 2,000 cars. The first 1,600 sold pretty quickly but the last few hundred have been either sitting in dealer showrooms or selling at a discount. There are also a lot of RS4's being resold now too. It is a pretty rough market when you consider that there are so many other performance cars out there right now and the US economy is in the toilet. RS4's are going at auction right now in the low 50's.

I think the tough used car market will continue and RS4 prices will continue to fall. There may be short period of price stabilization but I think the RS4 will follow the steep depreciation curve of every other recent Audi. My guess is a about 10-20% over the next 6-12 months. Of course, nobody really knows for certain...

cant really imagine they would considering a completely redesigned platform is out with supposedly improved dynamics. especially with the m3 and the c63 significantly undercutting the rs4's starting price (granted it has more standard features but not everyone wants/needs them). I kind of hope prices will drop 5k more soon enough so i can pick one up.
