Default Anyone know the clutch size on the RS4?

With all that power, I would like to know how tough the clutch is going to be. I also heard that a couple of clutches were toasted in certain Audi-sponsored driving events, so that got me wondering what the clutch diameter is. Anybody know (inches or mm).

Default Funny, but I hope you wear size 14.

Anyone who owns or is looking to own an RS4 needs to be very concerned about the clutch size. When the clutch starts slipping, it's unlikely warrantee will cover it, and it's going to be expensive to repair.

My concern originates from the E39 M5 (1999-2003), which only has a 9 1/2" clutch for a 4000 pound 400HP car. This is the clutch size that Ford Pintos and Fiestas use. If the RS4 doesn't have an 11" clutch, expect to pay a couple thousand dollars every 20,000 miles or so (if that). And you won't be able to have any "fun" out of fear of roasting the clutch!

Default I have no idea what size the RS4 clutch is, but I would not trust it for hard use from my past

experiences. I would replace it with an aftermarket unit...not stock, if it failed.

Default Absolutely. I had a Spec clutch, but it failed after 5k miles which MANY did.

The current hybrid RS4/kevlar clutch I have is a great blend of clamping force and driver friendliness. I don't think there is anything like this for the V8 S4 cars yet though. I recall Clutchmasters has an application for the B6/B7 cars. It may work for the RS4, although I can't be sure. The RS4 flywheel is definitely different than the S4 flywheel.

I would call Simpply at Wicked Motorsports. They carry the Clutchmasters line.

I am not aware of any other choices for the B6/B7 cars yet.
