Going to buy a VAG-COM and want to know if it's necessary to spend the ~$100 more for the "pro" Hex-CAN version or just get the basic "non-pro" version. Doesn't mention anything about the B7 S4/RS4 compatibility on their site.

I wanted to buy one off ebay but don't think it's the faster Hex-CAN version.

Last but not least, we did some updates, which also affect the B7 RS4. These updates are available in the latest beta version 606 of VAG-COM.

I guess I'll have to spring for the pricey CAN version... probably worth it since I think I'll keep this car for a while.

It's not terribly pricey... $159 to upgrade.
