Default BMW knows it's behind the "eight-ball". We know little about it...

except for the exterior and the engine. There's a long lead before the actual model sells, which means there will be running changes to compensate for anything Audi undertakes. Audi has issued the most serious challenge to BMW ever. It's going to get real interesting over the next 12-18 months when BMW and Audi do battle over the supreme European performance car... "the best of the best".

Default I heard somewhere that Audi is stepping away from performance cars and focus more on luxury..

challenging MB more than BMW. I could be wrong though.

Default The RS8 will be Audi's halo car and draw attention to its quite diverse line of luxury and design

wonders. I am not at all certain that Audi has conceded luxury, performance and safety to MB or BMW.

Default Actually, Audi's future concept (published two years ago) is focusing on "sport". VW was to aim...

for the luxury market. I should have saved the document as all Audi is doing currently is as was stated in the document. Also, I recollect a statement was made about a coupe in the near future (A5), re-engineering the engine placement setback, reduction of front overhang, weight reduction and, the big surprise, was a rear drive coupe...maybe the original intention of the R8.
