he needs it.
why does anything oil always digress to this nonsense about the holy grail of oils? FTLOG, put a quality oil in there and drive the car!
i would also consider a perimeter alarm for your RS4, as any day now, Scott is going to fly out and sneak an oil sample from your engine. he must be dying to know what your reckless approach to oil and oil changes is doing to your engine.

a random UOA from me now would be interesting...
my engine is full of Castrol Syntec with less than 500 miles on it...just had the 15k service (a few hundred miles EARLY, I might add). so come and get 'er!
the funny thing about these UOAs is that Dyson charges $50 for it....which is about the cost of an oil change (if you DIY). so why not just change the oil instead? LOL
Audi isn't the only mfr recommending extended (10k+) OCI. Consider BMW: my '06 750i has an automatic service indicator...there is no set service interval. So when do you think I was prompted for the FIRST oil change? 13k miles! This makes Audi seem overly conservative in comparison (with their 5k, 15k, 25k OCI). Mobil 1 'extended performance' oil is another example....they recommend changing their oil every 15k miles or 1 year. And they're SELLING the oil!
ready for another painfully long thread about oil? LOL

and you're right
it is hopeless overkill, IMO. all this blather when anytime anyone starts their engine, what Scott is describing as catastrophic happens(i.e. wear and tear).
if not an agenda, then a crusade. first it's Elf and Motul as superior. then it's this bio oil...if you want to save your RS4 engine.
then, when people are throwing codes, it's put a pint of FP60(or 3000?) in your tank, and if that doesn't solve the problem, take it to the dealer. not Techron, of course...even though it is universally ackowledged as the best gas treatment out there. then he begrudgingly says it's okay to use Techron as long as you immediately drain the oil afterwards??? scientific my azz!
honestly, i don't know what to make of this stuff. anyone who has bought into this needs ask themselves one simple question: before bio lube and FP, did their engines in any of the cars they've owned break down?...based on oil and gas additives??
heck, he can use it and he can swear by it, that's fine. but the fear factor tacked onto the end of it is wrong.
hopefully people can get back to not fixating so much on which exact oil is best(a futile pursuit if ever there was one) and move on.

Re: I prefer a good Single Malt Scotch with my oil
sorry if i'm being overly sarcastic. it's not my intent to tear down your oil analysis work. i just think you tend to go to far with it. that's all. there needs to be a counterpoint.
