Default ELEVENS....Question on the Lidatek install

I'm going to try your approach through the ECU this weekend. If you looked at my post, the LPP is essentially composed of the same components as the Lidatek....I'm going with two transponders up front.....
My question is how difficult it is to remove the grille to position the transponders.....

Thanks tons.........
I got a quote from a an audi tuning shop around here for a four hour install at 100/hr, so we'll do it myself.....

The bumper has to be removed to get the grille off, so that will be the hardets part of the install

Default Consider this...

Like Fluffy said the bumper has to come off - which I did not do since I put mine under the 4 rings.

But if I had two transponders, I'd locate them as in the pic. The reasons:

1) No bumper removal.
2) No cutting, the mesh in this location is the widest on the car and was big enough for the Lidatek transponder.
3) That mesh easily pops right out.
4) The location is favorable for where the revenue generator - oops I mean police officer - will be aiming his gun - at the headlights or 4 rings area.

Let us know how it goes or if you need any more help.

Default No one thinks the lower mesh under the plate holder is too low?

I would think just above or just below the 4 rings would be best.

Yea I do with one transponder - but not with two (JMO - we're all just guessing)

Someone could always do the math and compute the beam angles

True, but the human variable (lack of steady aim) helps to overcome the geometric model

Default True, but that can be dealt with using a probability of circular error ...

with a gaussian distribution for the beam.

Default It's worked fine for me when it was even lower on my B6 S4....

Dubaudi has also checked with Lidatek in the past and they say as long as it's level it is fine being lower.

Plus if you think about where a license plate lays on the car when it's on...it starts at the top of the filler panel area and ends lower then where I have my Lidatek mounted.

It's all about where the cop aims his gun.
