If the connector was different, that was an A8 airbag.
I received an authentic European RS4 airbag (with the correct chassis code, I suggest you check yours!) and the connector was the same as the USA model. However, prior to that, I received an A8 airbag by accident and that gave me the same results (the improper coding) with my stock harness.
