(FYI) May 07 issue of Sports Car Market page 127 under Fresh Meat. It notes that recently on ebay...
a Black/Black RS4 sold at $72520 with a MSRP at $73520 and a 07 Black/Black MB SLK 55 sold $62985 with an MSRP at $68985. It seems to me that the RS4 is doing far better than the MB and the old RS6 at holding first year sales value.

overwhelmingly positive reviews, and virtually no widespread problems = hit!
we're coming up on the 1 year anniversary of the 1st RS4s delivered in the US (I took mine home on 6/3/06), and there really haven't been any major problems reported on a repetitive basis...no recalls. not bad for the first model year of a brand new engine design. it's still considered an all-around great car that will be difficult to surpass in terms of all-around greatness. we could be driving a future legend!

Maybe, but I'm not sure about the numbers Sports Car Market quoted...
Who would pay $72K for a used RS4 when there are new ones on the lots for $73K? It just doesn't make sense and leaves me scratching my head about sample size, whether or not the car was actually used, etc.
I hope the RS4 has a decent resale value, but with Audi's historically precipitous depreciation and all the new products coming out (R8, S5, RS5, RS6, etc) I think our resale values will decline substantially as the hard-core Audi fans are diluted across a larger product line.

I just checked and you are correct in that they are both listed as New Car Stock. The.......
eBay ID# 220079256727 for the RS4 sale date 02/06/2007. The ID# 150047669342 for the MB does not come up but the sale date is older 10/21/2006 and it may have been purged. If true it still shows a greater demand and willingness to pay closer to MSRP for the RS4. You may be correct that it will follow past Audi depreciation trends. Or it might buck the trend based on the great press and small numbers. The car may also benefit from other press relating to the R10, RS5, R8 and RS8. As it is a more affordable step on the ladder.
