Have you felt "the big power increase" after 5-10K miles?
Lots of comments from owners saying their car got faster after broken-in.
My car (9000 miles) has always been strong, but I can't really say that I noticed it getting stronger at any point.

My girlfriend calls my car "Jack." She often comments about how Jack has grown up. Started a bit whiney, but now has a deep mean growl.
I feel more power on the throttle, quicker response, and a better exhaust note. Very satisfying. I don't recall specficically, but at every 1000 miles it seems to "grow"
