Default Identify The Engine Part Function... ???

Hi guys,

I picked up a B7 RS4 engine that I intend putting into my race car... I've stripped it back and have sealed the FSi ports (running on 2 banks of regular throttle bodies).

The thing is a work of art... a complicated work of art! I've identified most of the water-ways and oil-ways, but I'm struggling with these two ports (pictured)... can anyone help me out???

I'm thinking oil-ways, but where to / from (cooler... remote, or engine mounted)?

Sorry, we're not much past swapping brake pads or changing oil. Maybe if we had a pic of just where off the engine it came. As long as you're at it, what did the intake valves look like?

Tim you are funny! How have you been?

OP, Tell us more details about the RS4 engine. What kind of project are you putting together.
Post pictures of the build!

Yes, Yes and Yes. We need to see what its going in to determine what the part may or may no be.

Hi guys...

I'll try and get better snaps showing the whole engine - might help to make more sense of the part if it can be put into context of the whole package. Will be later this week though when I'm next in the engine shop.

As for the inlet valves.. a little dirtier than you would expect in a non-FSi engine, but not a problem! The engine had covered 5k miles, so not a lot of use.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about the scaremongering... I honestly don't think Audi would be going down the FSi route on so many engines if they hadn't done their homework!

Cheers

Scott
