Importing RS4 to Canada...
Anyone here import an RS4 to Canada from the US? Did you have any issues? Any modification required other than daytime running lights? Thanks.

Steve,
I brought mine to Canada Nov 07. it sat at the border for a couple weeks, but at that time there was a massive # of cars coming to CDA. the most significant cost were taxes and the 6.1% duty. the only mod required was reinforcement to the front bumper. however, i got audi to provide a quote, which i sent in, but never did the work. no one asked any questions. the daytime running lights are already activated.

It's pretty straight forward.
I imported mine in July 08.
You don't need to do any modifications at all, as of June 08, Transport Canada harmonized their bumper requirements with the the states.
Just to be sure, you should check the RIV website to see if there are any listed modifications required for the RS4.
As bimmereater noted in his post, at the border you'll have to account for the following:
- GST
- duty (6.1%)
Outside of that, some of the things you'll have to look out for:
- RIV
- Inspections
- transport (if you're not going to pick up the vehicle)
- in transit documents (if you are going to pick up the vehicle).
If you haven't done it before, most of the work is making sure you choose the right car (which is the fun part anyhow).
Good luck!

Thanks for the information... can you expand on what to look out for with inspections?

Some experience was gained from importing an S4 approx. 2 years ago ... I'm guessing the inspection will determine whether or not your car complies with CDN standards (ie: DRL's). Provided all is in order (no reason for an RS4 not to be), you shouldnt have any costs for this.

I imported in May 2007 - as everyone has said, no real issues. I flew down and drove back. You just need to have your paperwork in order, and it has to be at the US customs export office 72hrs before you arrive, I believe...
