Interior color
Hi all.
Prospective RS4 (current 996 Targa) owner here. Curious what impressions owners have of the two interior color choices with the RS4. My strong preference is for a blue (Mugello)/brown combination. So, charcoal does little for me; visually it offers no contrast to the dark exterior and is not a great choice for the steamy South where I live. The silver looks better with the dark blue, but I have never liked the light grey interiors dealers and manufacturers seem to prefer. To me, they just seem bland and cold; not a place in which I'd like to spend time.
So...
-to those who have the silver interior, how is it to live with?
-to those who may know, what are the odds I can cajole my dealer to cajole Audi to build an RS4 with one of the interior colors they offer to my friends in Germany? Would Euro delivery help? (BTW, their first response was that since the sport seats are sourced from Recaro, they only have two choices; this is not true, unless the seats are different in Euroland, which may be.)
Thanks, all.

For the type of leather in the RS4 only 3 colors have been crash tested, Black, Silver, and Red (in the S4). So, those are the only colors that are made available to us.
You best bet is to order the car and have the seats custom covered in the US.

Maybe in aviation...
Sorry, still don't get it. It's not possible that Porsche crash tests every exterior and interior color a customer orders. And, AoA's line about them only sourcing two interior colors from Recaro just does not seem to be true.

My Take on Silver Silk Leather Interior,,
Can't speak to Mugello/Silver, but can speak to Phantom Black/Silver combo...
I was looking for a chnage from the typical black on black interiors that most of my previous cars have had. Not being a huge fan of "light" colored interiors, one look at the RS4's silver interior changed my mind. I think it offers a great contrast & provides a little more exclusivity (silver interiors is definitely in the minority of builds...as approx. 15% of ll RS4 builds have silver interior & only 2 black/silver RS4's currently registered in the state of NJ) on an already pretty exclusive auto.
Initially, I was concerned that the lighter interior would show both wear & dirt more easily...but I haven't found that to be the case. Then again, the car is generally kept pretty meticulous.
If you really are looking for something that isn't available in the States or can't (or is worth) be built/picked up in Europe, than custom refinishing is, as Fluffhead suggested, not a bad alternative. I've used GAHH (www.gahh.com) for some of my Porsches in the past...their work is top notch. Almost anything possible.
That said, I'm very happy I went with the Silver Silk interior. In fact, after seeing the silver interior setup, I had my dealer find another customer for the Black on Black RS4 I had already ordered @ that time, having to wait an additional 4 months for the Black/Silver RS4 I now drive.
Hope this helps.
