Default Ironic MPG update, FWIW: During a jaunt to Newport for a wedding last

weekend, I made an effort to behave myself on the throttle. I had 23.6 mpg over a 313 mile stretch, which, in my mind, confirms the 23.7 I had on another trip while cruising at 73 mph.

This is interesting to me since my B6S4 was 100 pounds lighter and had 80 fewer ponies, and rarely touched 22 mpg.

Hooray for direct injection. I will do penance this week by running as much WOT as possible before we leave for Maine.

I am still in the top third of the dipstick at 3,500 miles, having added no oil.

Default You did better than I did last weekend from Boston to Lime Rock Park and back. Only got 22.7 mpg.

But that was not all highway driving.

Definitely better than I did going out to Lime Rock. I only managed to get around 21 mpg. On the other hand that is not bad given that I was averaging 80 mph over most of the pike.

How did you like the races? I loved the R8 and the World Cup RS4. DId you hear that two of the three R8's there were "fake"?

Default That still tends to validate direct v. manifold injection. I am pleasantly

surprised.

Mebbe when they bring over a high performance turbo diesel it will be even better, in terms of mileage and footie poundage.

Default Like a point of order, "Hooray for beer!" is always in order. I read that in

Roberts Rules of Order-The Tavern Edition.
