My cars misfire problems are finally fixed (fingers crossed)...........
The misfires have been as follows:
Date Cylinder#
10/07/06 # 5, 7 & 8
03/08/07 # 5, 7 & 8
04/02/07 # 5, 7 & 8
04/28/07 # 5 & 7
07/08/07 # 5 & 8
Sunday it happened again, as always it's the same scenario; I went to pass a car and down shifted from fourth to third and the engine light flashed. ****!!!! So I brought the car into the dealer and they found a sporadic operation of cam adjuster solenoids. They replaced both cam solenoids. As I said (fingers crossed).

I had some misfires when I was at around 2500 miles...
...shut the car off while moving and started it back up again. Everything was fine.
Makes me not want to chip the car if this motor's going to have issues.

Camshaft adjustment valve
Its a solenoid actuated vacuum valve that controls the variable valve positioning.
It's possible that the solenoid or valve could be sticking. Unlikely that it's electrically intermittent. If this does not fix your problem, it's the vacuum itself. In that case, make sure your shop checks out TSB 24 06 01 Sept. 22, 2006. There is a vacuum hose underneath the intake manifold that could get pinched and damaged at assembly. This was dxben's problem last year.

how else to power engine related solenoids?
there's enough strain on the electrical system as it is. there's an available source of vacuum at engine. and 12 volt system doesn't really provide the power needs for some solenoid motors.
