Default Oil consumption stabilized...

before 1700 miles on the odometer. This is attributed to an oil drain and filter change at 700 miles, plus a "sporty" break-in procedure within Audi guidelines. Prior to the rings sealing, the car would belch a white/blue cloud upon start-up. It would even trigger the smoke alarms in the garage. We are monitoring this very closely and planning another oil/filter change soon. So far, so good as the car is coming into its own.

Default Zero oil added to the crankcase...

since the factory fill or after the 700 mile change. In fact, it appeared the factory fill was mid-zone on the stick. Since the oil change, the stick reveals little oil consumption. While others have reported adding as much as 2 quarts in the early going, I've added nary a drop which seems to verify the importance of getting the factory fill out of the crankcase sooner rather than later. Audi's recommended 5000 miles before an oil/filter change seems far too long if you value your engine. I just broke-in a high performance aircraft engine at the weekend, and changed the oil at 1.5 hours and will change it again in another 5 hours just to get the metal out of the system and properly seat the rings. But that's another story.

Default Welcome to the oil club.

What are you using now since the change, and do you plan to have it analyzed?
