Put smaller oil filter with oil change..... temporary or change at next oil change??
Not feeling the cleverest here but in my ruch to get all the stuff for my oil change I picked up a bosch filter from a german parts dealer.... instead of the dealership as I should have.
But I only realized once I'd drained all my old oil, so I just put in on instead. Can I keep this on for 5k miles or change at the earliest opportunity.
The reason I ask is because this is the first oil change on an engine that was replaced due to the oil sludge issue.

5K miles, just keep an eyeball on fluid levels.
most of you guys don't remember the old vw scirocco's had issues due to the small sump too. you let it go down 1qt and the engine is in a world of hurt.
you just dont have alot of play (with either filter) on the b6. 4 quarts is nothing given that you will burn 1qt before the next 5K miles guaranteed
