Default RNS-E Aux input active and installed!

The newest Audi nav disc enables an auxiliary input. With a little VAG-Com recoding I did the option is visible in the menus.

The stereo shop that did my entire system tied into the pins on the back of the head unit and ran them to a headphone jack in the console. Now I can connect up anything with a line level or headphone output.

Just picked it up this afternoon, but I am pleased so far.

Default I ordered the disc from navteq. There are pins on the back of the headunit that...

are labeled aux left, right and ground. You have to connect to those.

You can either order the parts to attach it through the existing wiring harness or you can direct solder to the pins if you are very skilled with a soldering iron. I gather it is very tight back there.

hmm. not afraid of soldering. did they cut a regular 1/8 jack cable and solder it in? no pics i presume?

i have an ipod adapter setup today from blitzsafe, but it has a background beep noise that drives me nuts. would rather go your route. don't want to pay for the nav discs though. need to find another source on that one.

what's the version number of the nav disc you have?

thanks

Default They used a panel mount headphone jack in the console and ran standard audio cable from there...

to the head unit.

It works well.

IDK about another source for the update. I gather that if you can find someone who will let you borrow their new disc you can put it in yours and it will upgrade your nav. Then you can put the old map disc back in.

I'm not sure on that though.

Then you would still need to recode the radio with VAG-com for it to be visible.
