Default S Button & Gas consumption

I was wondering if anyone had any info on the S button and if it increases gas consumption when on?

as a by-product of making the throttle response sharper, I think you'll accidently use more.

A long time ago someone reported that while highway cruising they experimented with S mode on and off and noticed a small increase in efficiency with S mode on. Since it only changes the throttle response and opens the muffler valve he attributed it to the open muffler valve offering slightly less back pressure.

Whatever it was, the difference was slight. No matter the button position these cars like to drink gasoline.
