Default Funny story about "smart keys":

My dad used to have a C5 Corvette with a key feature where it would automatically lock the car when you walked away and unlock when you walked up to it.

Well.... my dad likes to leave his keys in the car when it's not being driven.

So he walks away from it (mind you, keys are in the center console) when he hears a "click".

Runs back to the car. It's locked itself with the keys in it!

He calls up Chevy and they state that they must literally ROCK the car side to side in hopes that the car re-detects the key.

LOL

Anyway, 10 minutes of rocking later, the car decides to read the key again and unlocks.

Stupid "smart keys"

Start buttons are cool... when there's no conventional key hole to go with them - like some of the new Lexus (and others... not that I like Lexus) keys that detect you and unlock the car/button without having to use the key at all. I like the red start button in the wheel spoke of the F430 - now that's cool. To me the in dash key hole should not be when there's a start button - put the key hole somwhere else... outta site. It's just a fad - everyone's doing it - even the entry level Forduar that looks like it has the same interior electronics as a Taurus. I would like to see someone do the mod nonetheless - getting some high quality model enamel and painting the button red, yellow, green or blue would be even cooler - just my opinion.
