Default Yep, Alan, me, JCarp & PeteRD did the porsche /BMW instructor class 2 weeks ago

Imagine this.

4 gt3's
2 996's
1 gt2

a host of bmw's and porsches

and 3 S4 avants at this instructor certification class for the PCA of america (woot I am one now!)

it was pouring rain and they asked, " can we still pass at ANY TIME IN THE RAIN!"

I was like gesch, this is an instructor day to learn how to instruct better and they wanted to know if they could "pass anywhere"...

yeah they are very liberal about driving but well handled and maintained by the event organizers.

Obviously a bit more ego and aggressiveness on the track but all in all a great bunch of people with a much bigger broader network to access to track time and cheaper rates. I'd definitely look into it.

the fun part?

um yeah having the 2 guys from the bmw and porsche drivers get in teh S4 avant's (ALanL, Me & Jcarp) and go WHOA! these are quick and sound awesome!

yeah that was fun.

Default LOL, must be nice...*sigh*....

I love hitting VIR. Most of the time it's just Allan and I there, the lone Audi's at the event. Much less, the only wagons! ;-)

While most of the events are strictly driver and instuctor OR solo, ChinMotorsports let me take passengers. LOL, I had a list of people waiting to get rides. Most of them were Porsche Cup Car racecar drivers...like these two. ;-) (that silver p-car was HAUTE! and he was from NJ..Yooo butta-fuukoh...LOL)

Default Not yet - dojo summed up what we both saw of the PCA and BMWCCA folks a few weeks ago.

I will definitely do a PCA event 'cuz instructors get in free. Still scratching my head over the BMW instructor who wanted to pass anywhere. From what I saw, I wouldn't want to be all that close to him out on the track.

I like driving with folks whose driving I trust.....

Default the BMWCCA events in this area are pretty well under control.....

passing is only in designated places with a point by - even for instructors - safety is a top priority. that goes for all pacific region events I have been too. some other BMW CCA groups in other parts of the country have different rules. oh and BMW instructors run free also.
