Default Anybody been on winter road trip. Hows your front end? I did 5000Km. The front is totally

sandblasted. Drivers mirror is cracked behind the aluminum foil. Chips everywhere. It's a car I say drive it. Even if I had 3M it wouldn't have covered a lot of parts that are damaged.

Just wondering what other results are.

Chipped pretty bad, but hey, drive it like you stole it.

Default Did the 3M mod on the front of my '98 A4. In 93K miles has sure helped

Paint under the 3M plastic still looks good. This is on Western PA roads with a lot of year-round dirt/gravel kicked up constantly. (windshield is totally sandblasted; this is on a replacement installed at about 20K miles due to a rock hit).

Are your mirror foil covered plastic? Early '04s were all metal.

Default This is the main reason that I don't buy winter tires and take the car out in the salt and cinders!

Fortunately,I have another AWD vehicle to use in the snow.

Default Unfortunatley Dr. you are missing enjoying one of the best possible cars in the worst possible

conditions. I've had SUVs before. Nothing touches the S4 with winters.

I agree with both of you. Had tons of fun driving. Will have insurance repaint front occasionally.
