Default Went the cheaper route - Works too...

I went the cheaper way and "built my own harness"
-> 25ft -> 4 x 18GA wires from Home Depot ($5).

Cut in half and get 2 runs. Use 3 wires from 1 cable for CD-in, CD-out and CD-Clock. Tie GND together, Tie the other 4 wires by 2 for Battery 12V and Switched 12V.

Cut into the VW adapter of the Phatnoise and solder the wires to this home made Harness.

Run the Audio out of the Phatnoise to the SAT.

It's all working. Symphony II Head Unit. In dash CD still works. Hit CD button twice to get to Phatnoise.

Carefull on the Data-In, Data-Out on the back of the HU (pin 13, 14), it will not work if they're inverted... (I know, should have read the think twice before pushing the pins...)

I need to take pictures and publish a tech article, just need some more time.

Rich.

Default Ultrasport-Sal, did you get my email, Re: building cable with VW connector?

I'd like to get a cable from you ASAP, but with the Audi converter cables out of stock world-wide, I need a different option. Let me know if you're interested.

I'd also be interested in just wiring the PhatNoise cable directly to the CDC harness.

If you sent it to comcast email, no. I can't check home email from work. I will get back to you tonight. We are making kits tonight.

Default More details please...

Thought about doing the same thing but have yet to start... Would you be willing to share more details? e.g. what does "run the audio out of the phatnoise to the sat" mean in terms of jumpers/pin numbers/etc...? And do you solder directly to the headunit or are you using the audi connector? Any help would be greatly appreciated from a fellow silver b6s4 owner! Looking foward to the tech article...

Default stealthwagon - where did you get the pins for the HU end?

Can you please post the mapping from the VW connector to the Audi HU as well?

Default Shoot me an email and I'll send you some files with the pinout diagrams

And by running the audio I mean route the wires you seperated from the main CD changer harness to the trunk and Sat radio box. There are only 3 wires that need to be plugged into the receiver, and there are exactly 3 empty pins on the connector. very simple to do.

or, if you made your own harness, you go to any VW/Audi dealership and get 2 pigtails, part 000-979-009 and solder/splice those in
