It looks like the center armrest is black due to cost considerations, just like the seat control switches.

I like the black armrest and it'll probably not get as dirty or worn looking.

cost is not the issue - my dealer changed the top cover from silver (as it came from the factory) to black at my request at no charge. I just may want to change it back.

haveing a manual, you probably don't rest your arm on there too much anyhow... doesn't it get in the way of shifting...?

didn't consider the wear aspect, but with shifting, likely not resting there much!!
