The coolant level in the reservoir is down
a little and I can sometimes smell it inside
the car. No leaks visible anywhere. Ideas?

mine was and I took it to the dealer and they flushed it and added coolant for me. They claim they found a very small leak. fixed under warranty

I know JD has had a coolant leakage problem.

I was getting about two tablespoons of fluid under the front bumper driver's side. Turns out my radiator's seam cracked.

several places it can come from. Mine was coming from several places. They had to replace all the thermostats and after replacing those and some random coolant parts they needed to replace the coolant resivour which had a crack on the rear of it. I would start with any couplers in the coolant system and then the resivour. Im guessing your leak is there. Otherwise you might have a porus block or a leaky headgasket. Check the oil, if its milky then your problems might be worse then a simple leak. Hope that helps.
