Default The best advice is try on many helmets...

It's like Goldilocks & the 3 bears...you've got to find the one that fits best.

I got mine in Torrance at Tillack's race shop and tried on several such as Bell, Stand 21, & Bieffe and in the end found that I just have an Arai head. I have an Arai Signet motorcycle helmet and this GP5k fit me the best (and unfortunately was one of the more expensive). But when I have it on, it's not like I'm even wearing a helmet it fits so well. I absolutely would not mail order one unless I had already tried it on. You'll find that a medium from one brand to the next can vary significantly. Also, weight should be on your mind but it's not as much of a concern IMO as you're not suffering extensive g-loads vs. karting where a heavy helmet means really sore neck muscles at the end of the day.

Default I should clarify that the Stand 21 is built to order so in all fairness...

the one I tried on obviously wasn't going to be a good fit for me but it gave me an idea of construction and padding. It is extremely light but also starts at around $1k.

Default I have a Simpson Speedway RX for sale...

Kind of overkill for an enclosed car but the price is right and I'm in so. cal. heh:

I'm switching helmets and am selling my current one.

I purchased this helmet new in 10/03 (manufactured in 9/03). It's Snell SA 2000 and has the optional chin flap and comes with a clear + smoked + yellow shield and dozens of tear-offs. Factory painted metallic dark blue. Also has d-rings for helmet restraints on both sides.

Helmet has never been dropped and has never been in an accident. Was checked by Simpson last year when it had the chin flap installed at the factory. Slight wear and tear from normal use.

Size is 7-3/4, Simpson indicates that fits a head approximately 23-1/2" to 24-3/8" at the widest circumferance (generally an inch above your eyebrows and above your ears). I'm 23-1/2" and it fits perfectly.

Note, I'm taking off my HANS connectors and the radio equipment will be removed and there will be five small holes which can be plugged or used for your own racing radio setup (I'm using the RacingRadios brand mic).

Helmet retails for about $424 new...I'm asking $250. e-mail me at: nasaracer (at) *** (dot) net
