I've got a question regarding the current S4
The Lexus IS350 and upcoming BMW 335 are as quick as the S4, yet the S4 is priced significantly higher. The RS4 is on the horizon, but it's expensive and competes with the C55 and upcoming C63 & V8 M3 sedan.. I'm assuming an FSI version of the S4 is on the horizon... What would be the prospective power output of that car?

Re: I've got a question regarding the current S4
well...0-60 times are not everything. the IS350 has been clocked at 5.3 but most other tests have it running in the HIGH 5's.
and then after that...
all i know is that the V8 in my FX pulls like hell at higher speeds as compared to the V6 variant.
i bet the old S4 tip would still kill both of these cars (at least the lexus) over the long haul or "at-speed" accel.
then there is handling. ill be putting my money on the audi or BMW thanks

The difference for most is probably in the details.
The Lexus looked good in pictures, but I'm beginning to see this car on the road almost everyday, and it just doesn't stand up. The Audi looks much better IMO. Interior is subjective, but the seats in the S4 take it, in addition to the 6-speed. Then theres the AWD. Then theres the V8 (which in the end is still faster and sounds better). Factor in that no Lexus has ever had any real soul. Still an expensive appliance. And the 335 will cost just as much as an S4, if not more. The old 330Ci cost as much as an S4, barely optioned out.

Who says the BMW 335 will be as quick as the S4. Plus
who really cares if it is just a few trnths of a sec. Both of those cars lack either AWD or 6 MT. FSI might pump up the HP slightly but not tht much.

I find it hard to believe
that BMW will not offer the 335i with a 6 MT. A MT has been pretty standard as a special order sort of thing from them. Also granted it is not AWD - at this point. Even though BMW's AWD technology isn't up to par as Audi Quattro I do think that if they made a 335ix it would definitely give the S4 a run for it's money. If it was chipped? I think it would do much better in terms of straight line performance (and yes, I know that isn't the end all in performance evaluation).

I agree 100%
There's many a day when it's dry and clear that I love driving my wife's 530i with M suspension. Definitely a different animal than my S. But then again it can't go to Tahoe in the snow and it can't compare with the experience of the boost hitting on my UrS (modified). Besides, my kids like riding in "Daddy's fast red car" better than "Mommy's blue car" hands down.
