Ok, so how come I don't hear anyone saying that they installed a remote starter??

speaking of which is there an engine block warmer for the S4?
some manufacturers sell an "engine block warmer" which is a device that is supposed to attach to the engine, plugs into any outlet and is supposed to help the car warm up quicker in the winter by keeping it "warm". anyone ever used one, is there such a thing for Audi, could this be bad for your engine?

For 6 spds, you'd have to defeat the clutch kill switch and the Immobilizer...
The only way I've heard of to bypass the Immobilizer is to hide a spare key up in the dash, which would render the security of it useless all the time.
Also, most people will tell you that letting your car warm up at idle (like with a remote starter) isn't recommended. It's better to drive away shortly after starting the car in order to warm up all the drivetrain components. Just don't go overboard on the go pedal until the temp comes up.
HTH...

I don't think you've heard the s4 factory alarm.
Have you? I'm SURE you haven't...
back to the remort start...not a good idea on our s4. I had the expensive compustar system, with the remote showing a picture of the car, and it's paging features for when your car was touched, etc...GREAT ALARM. Not for this car though.
Why?
We have the 6spd. Don't let your car warm up in idle, like everyone says. I like parking in gear, for obvious reasons. Don't want to park in neutral, especially in Berkeley.
Also, the compustar worked fine with my Chevy Tahoe, but I wouldn't want ANYone messing around with the electronics of the s4, other than myself if possible.
