Briefing by a Jim Russell instructor and...

Well folks this as to be one of my best time ever behind the wheel of a car, not just any car but a real race car and man I'm hooked. One of the CEOs took two of his sons along with eight of their buddies to Le Circuit Mt-Tremblant today for what I thought was a race. Well after we landed, I politely asked him if I could tag along to the race track. I explained to him I love cars, I even compete with my car and that in October I was coming to this track for a two day high performance driving school. He told me sure, close down the aircraft and come join us at the track but we are not going to see a race but reserved the track with the Jim Russell driving school and you are more than welcomed to join us and drive the cars. I could not believe it. I was invited by the boss to go drive an F-2000 for three hours of lapping, only a fool wouldn't accept that offer!

If you have never driven one of these babies, you can not appreciate the sheer sticking power of a Formula car with aerodynamics. You can brake sooooo deep and go around curves like no regular road car can, they are glued to the road. It was just insane and I still have a ha?d on thinking about it. Anyway it was just a great day. How can anyone ask for more? Fly the jet to the track than drive the race car on the track.

I also had to practice my toe and heel because it is a must to drive these machines. Because this was a crash course driving school for the young guys the REV limiter was set at 4200 RPM, plenty fast for some of them, believe me, but nowhere near the limits of the car's engine or its handling. Some of the longer Ss and sweepers could be taken flat out in fourth without breaking a sweat. Some of the tighter corners could be taken by just downshifting to third. Just simply amazing and the track is to die for! No wonder it as always ranked as one of the best and fun track to drive in North America. I can't wait to go back there with the Audi Quattro Club in October.

They did send me out first for the free lapping and unfortunately, I cot up to the tail enders by the mid point of the second lap and since the rules did not allow for any passing I came in the pits to allow some spacing between them and me, then went back out.

I have driven 125cc Rotax Max Karts and thought those were really amazing and fun (they still are) but these F-2000 take the cake. I now know that if I were capable of owning a dedicated track car, I would most likely have one of these and not a road going track car, that's how amazing these cars are.

The apex is totally blind, you need ***** at full speed to take it and not only is it blind but you are just coming up to he top of the "hump" and the car gets light, such feelings...
