Default rpms hanging after clutch engaged

i know i'll probably hear that this is one of the DBW problems, but i just wanted to see if anybody else had experienced this. after the car has warmed up (and more pronounced once i've been driving at freeway speeds for half an hour or so) when i go to put the clutch in, the rpms hang at whatever rpm they were at when the clutch was engaged. they eventually fall back down, but if i try to downshift and engine brake when this is happening, it actually accelerates the car a bit after the downshift. with no throttle applied. kinda worried me at first, i'm going to the dealer in a week, just didn't want any suprises when i get there. thanks,

Default It sure sounds like...

DBW...although I notice it more when the car is cold, during warmup. If you've noticed a dramatic change, then get it into the dealer, by all means.

Do you have any aftermarket parts on your S4? My GIAC flash caused a similar issue when cold. When I flash back to the stock mapping, it goes away.

No, totally stock. Part of the RPM hang while cold is due to it being at high idle during warm up, but it's not the same as with the DBW. That is an unusual RPM hang which can occur at any time. There's also the dead spot in instant accel, which I attribute to the DBW/ESP kicking in when uninvited!

I think your GIAC chip issue is probably something else...possibly ECU re-mapping related.
