I am the original owner of an 08 S4 Avant 6-speed and have just purchased a complete RS4 with rear end damage. I am going to combine them into an RS4 Avant clone. Does anyone have a parts list for the back of the car that are needed to do a correct and complete conversion? I am planning to use the front end parts from the RS4. Are there any know gotchas or is it all bolt-on (aside from rear end bodywork)?

This is SUBSTANTIALLY more work than you may be thinking, my man. Like WAY more.

How do I know? Because I just got my car back after it being gone for just over 6 months, building what is for certain the only "B6.5 RS4 Avant" on planet earth. (You would have to see it to understand) Several guys that I have seen (4 or 5) that have done an RS4 Avant conversion on B7's, yes-----but not a single one has done it on a B6 that I have been able to find, anywhere---and the 2 or 3 that have done it on B6's were all sedans, not Avants-----and they converted it all over to B7.....while my project retained much of the B6, which is what I wanted.

More than 2 years of research and almost a year of tracking down parts to make it happen. Almost 500 hours of labor, and a huge chunk in parts as well. But she is done now and is utterly one-of-a-kind. But it took a great deal of engineering and custom fabbing. I dont believe they allow us to embed links in here, or else I would put it in so you could see her.

No trying to discourage you----just letting you know what you're in for. It is not small, money or time-wise.
