Hey guys!

I have a 2005 S4 and the oil pressure alarm went off the other day. Obviously I'm not driving the car right now and the oil's at a good level. Before taking the car in for a full diagnostics, I'd like to replace the potentially faulty oil pressure sensor since I've been reading that's the problem MOST of the time. I have the sensor and all the proper tools but I'm having a very difficult time locating the old sensor on my engine.

Any advice on where it would be on the engine? Do I gotta jack it and go underneath to find the old one or can I get it from the top. Thanks

The pressure sensor is on the back/bottom of the oil filter housing, which itself is on the back of the engine. Fortunately the housing is on the topside of the engine though, under the rear engine cover. What I don't know is if you need to drain the oil [from at least the filter housing] in order to replace the sensor.
