Is Strat's Short Shifter worth the $?-I truly don't mind the OEM gear box?

I like it. The oem gearbox is good. The SS is better.
The SS shortens the throw of course, but just makes the driving experience more sporty. If your looking for leisure, grandma shifts (taking your time, etc), you may want to stick with the stocker.
I took my stocker out for some detent work. I still have the stocker in since I haven't had time to replace it with the SS. But I miss the SS.

I pretty much feel the same. . .I am sure the SS is nice, but I don't mind the stock . .
shifter at all. . .
I noticed that 1-2 shifts seem smoother with exhaust? Anyone else notice that?

Wait until you try the new detents. ;-)
But seriously, the SS is very nice. You have no idea until you drive a car with one.
For example, Mike, a new guy in town with a silver B6 S4, drove my car and Allan's car at the Feb Fling GTG/Car show in Charlotte a month ago.
He was able to notice the difference in power from non-res catback and res fullback, but he was even more blown away with the SS, of all things.
