Default Update on service :-(

So the whistling noise. Lots of people get it when car is cold and then it goes away after a mile or so.

Tech is blaming the alternator for sure. I said "you sure it's not the secondary air pump" - they said "were sure". They ordred one on Monday and it got there today. Up on the hoist and ... coolant leak!

I'm not sure where it is, the service person was talking fast, it sounds like a seal near where the transmmission meets the engine. Hard to get to, she says. New seal has to come in from LA. At least they found it now.

So no car until Monday (pessimistically). I asked for an upgrade on my $6/day rental.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4b6/msgs/152452.phtml">Original Post</a></li></ul>

Sorry to hear that, although at least now you can get the problem fixed and be done with it

Default so the alternator is causing the whistling. . and they happened to find a coolant leak?

or are the problems related? Did they cause the coolant leak while working on the alternator?

Default I have that same whistle and it is loud!

Mine happens when the car is cold from about 2600-2900 RPMs. Below and above that it is quiet. I always keep my car garaged in California, so it must have to do with RPMs when the engine is first started (cold) not temperature as in outside weather. It sounds like a high pitch scream or whistle. Let me know what you find out. I hate leaving anywhere when the car is cold becasue the whistle makes people stare.

No, unrelated issues - glad they caught that.
