Default Venturing over from the B5 forum. I've got a few questions for you B6'ers

1) How many of you were B5 owners first? Most? Some?
2) If you were a B5 owner, did the significant price increase of the B6 surprise or upset you at all?

Finally...

3) Did you keep the B5 or ditch it?

I'm an un-modded B5 owner. I would love to make the switch, however, I don't have that kind of coin. I wish Audi had catered to the same crowd.

Default I had a B5 for 3 years.

01.5, silver with alcantara, 6-speed.

I owned it until 45k where I traded it in and bought my B6. I progressed from a chip at 13k miles to stage 2 until the day I sold it.

The increased price was definitely on my mind when i first heard the new S4 was coming out. I remember seeing the first pics of the car on AW. To be perfectly honest, I wasn't absolutely CRAZY about what I saw.

Then I brought my car in for a 40k service and they had a black B6 avant on the lot. I took a test drive and I absolutely fell in love. I then understood why there was an increase in price. Everything has been improved (minus the gas mileage). I got a great trade-in on my B5 and negotiated a hell of a deal on the avant, which surprisingly sat on the lot for a while because nobody was interested in it. Go figure...it was a perfect match for me.

Default I am a previous B5 S4 owner.

I had it for 48K miles and pretty much drove the snot out of it. I did over 20 track events and had a mod list that included suspension, exhaust, brakes, and chip.

I stripped the mods (I had kept the OEM parts) and traded the car in for the new one. The parts were sold off prior to acquiring the new vehicle.

Given the mods I had on my B5, I calculate the cost of my B5 S4 at well over the price I paid for my B6 S4 Avant and the performance I got out of the new one is at least as good if not a little better. Audi took notes on the frequent modifications many of us made to the B5 series S4 and built them into the new car in the first place. The new one contains upgrades of almost every feature of the old version and for that, I am not surprised at the cost increase.

Given the features of the B6 S4, I consider the price to be well worth it and would do it again in a heartbeat.

FWIW I ordered mine before prices had been established for the car and only learned of the price after the car was already in production, so I paid MSRP plus the gas guzzler tax.

Default Totally agree

Same here after having a B5 for 3 years. Aside from the gas mileage which is shockingly low, this is a major upgrade across the path and worth the money.
