APR numbers are out

With a chip, exhaust and intake?!!! There we go...that's some of the madness I was expecting.
Just for a little perspective, we've been looking at a JHM supercharger for the B6/7 S4 and reckoning on needing around 450whp to hit the 11s.
Not 450crank....450whp. That move from 13.0 to 11.99 takes a lot more than a 40whp (on a mustang dyno) chip/exhaust combo.

12.2 in the 1/4 on an Audi of similar heft would point to JHM's full bolt on shop car + 70shot of nitrous that ran 12.29@117mph. That car dyno'd 400whp at 034 motorsports Land And Sea dyno, and has a beautiful curve.

I don't think so. Stasis is advertising 410WHP on their tune which is coming very soon here also, they want $1495 for it, and that is with a warranty. I would think the numbers would have to pretty handily eclipse Stasis' numbers to get people to pay the same dough for something without a warranty.

you sure they said WHP? or crank? Got a link?
p.s. what do you say about my analysis above? I didn't like how APR applied 23% drivetrain loss to their dyno numbers in that one crakn chart. Their dyno reads nothing like mustang and the like (where 20-23% loss is accepted).

What about the DSG Max Torque and HP Ratings?
An earlier post (NWS4Guy on 7-27-10)contained this link to an article on the DSG which stated maximum rated input torque at 600 nM (442 ft-lbs.) and power at 330 kW (442 hp).
http://www.dctfacts.com/in-the-marke...emium-DCT.aspx
If APR's corrected numbers are close to correct the torque and power of the chipped (93 octane + catback exhaust)3.0T will significantly exceed the DSG transmission's input ratings.

Sak - Yes sorry CHP, they allude to this, but never state it. Depending on who shows what and how they rate it, the numbers can obviously be massaged, my statement still holds merit - I did a poll here today incidentally, where a large portion were saying they would rather have a warranty over anything else when it comes to the pending ECU tunes coming out.
As for 23% I think that is high as well, but you have all the raw data, use a different number if it makes you feel better, the delta is what matters here, showing the amount of gain and where it occurs in the RMP band.
Barry, I think these number are on the high side, and personally am not worried about my DSG. The VW'sith DSG have been chipped for years now by APR, going well in excess of what VAG claimed the max Tq and HP ratings of these transmissions are with not a failure due to the ECU tune.

Sak-
Everything I have seen from other measuring methods (VAG (VCDS), Gtech RR, Pbox) puts stock WHP around 300 WHP. If APR's tune makes 65 WHP, this is around 365 WHP with chip, not 325 WHP. As B8 S4 has AWD, will come out of the hole faster than a C63.

Performance guesses? I guess a quarter mile of around the same or a hair faster than JHM's full bolt on B6 S4 which went 12.70@112mph. Maybe a hair quicker like 12.6. Should be interesting. That car (JHM's B6) dyno'd 317whp/310wtq...was full weight...and was on 91 octane fuel. It also walked the pants off a carboned up RS4, like the video Keith posted last week.
At what point are you possibly going to concede that a B8 is going to be faster than a super modified B6? That's all I'm wondering.
Sak, you're such a damn hater... why do you troll the B8 S4 boards? You don't own one.. you never will... you just sound like a douche.
I will do my best to install this chip ASAP and if weather permits, run some 1/4 mile times. Of course it won't shut you up since you'll factor in all sorts of nonsense BS....
Listen.. my other ride is a 997 Turbo... I've owned two 4.2 "S" model Audi's, a C6 S6 and a B6 S4, and there is no way I could sit here and tell you that a B6 "tuned" S4 can hang with even a stock B8 S4. yeah, maybe if you did the right pull in the right gear at the right temp, but the other 95% of the time the B8 is going to walk it. Case closed. With this chip... and remind you, this is stage 1, a B6/7 is toast.
Thanks for playing... it's been fun.
