Hi all,

My wife's MB C300 lease is coming up early next year and I am searching the next car for her. She is not the kind to do the research so I am doing it for her. In the past she has driven sedans and that's what she is comfortable with. She has had the 3 series and now the c300 and I looking to get an Audi for her, but don't know which one to get as we have never had audi's before.

I thought the A4 which is the 3 series equivalent right? and then started looking at the S4, is the s4 the bmw M or MB AMG equivalent?

We both also agree that we like the A6 size and looks, We want to be in the $30,000 - $35,000 range for a CPO. Is this doable for a 2014 model?
If any of these lease better like BMW's we may consider that too.

A bigger car will help with the family being able to use more space in the back.

What about extended warranties? which of these would be the best bang for the buck for a CPO, also which engine 2.0 vs. 3.0?

I need to be educated in these cars so I can start looking for them in my local market.

Opinions vary, but most agree that the S4 is between a BMW 340i and an M3. If you've driven an M3, you know the S4 is nothing like it.

I'm shopping around as well, and one of the biggest complaints I have about the S4 is that the interior is so dated. I currently have a 2006 A6, and the interior isn't much different than the S4 save a bunch of carbon fiber.. That has forced me to look at either an A6/S6, or a BMW.

If I were you, I'd lean heavily toward a CPO A6. They are terrific cars, and have up-to-date tech.

The B6 and B7 S4s WERE the direct competitor to the M3. However, when the B8 S4 was released, it was marketed as the direct competitor to the 335i. with the S5 marketed against the 435i. The A4s have a 2.0 turbo 4 cylinder engine and is marketed against the 328 and 320 BMWs .The S4 has a 3.0 supercharged engine. Both of those engines are available in the A6. The A6 will have more back seat room. But the A4/s4 back seats are big enough for 2 adults as long as you are not driving for long distances. Having come from a B6 S4 to an E92 335i and now on my 3rd B8 s4, I have to say that the S4 is superior to any non M 3 series by a large margin. also, I had an A7 with a 3.0 SC engine for a loaner. I was bored with it in 15 minutes. Not so with my S4. After 7 yrs of driving one,I still enjoy it. And for the first time ever, I don't find myself looking to replace my car with the latest and greatest car out there. In fact, when I compare the S4 to other new cars out there, I like my S4 better. You may not need an extended or CPO warranty. These cars are really reliable. I feel that I wasted $2700 that I paid for a 3 yr extended warranty. I never had the need to use it. You might be better off starting your own monthly slush fund and use it for tires, brakes and battery, if and when you need them and repairs if they are needed.
