Rather than fading to the front, use the driver or front focus in the DSP setup. That will bring the sound stage up without turning down the sub. I don't like the effect of turning the surround level up very high though.

Hey guys, will this work with a '14 B8.5 S4?
Thinking of doing this. I have an older JL 10" laying around in a sub box, so debating if I should do the swap, if I am able to that is.
Also have to get dynomat in that case :-/

Just read through whole thread and hoping to do to my 11' S4. That 10" Kicker sounds like the best option without an amp and for sound quality. However, it has been a couple years since people posted links to that 1.25 or 1.5 speaker spacer and I can't find one as of September 2014. Does anyone know where I could get that speaker spacer either online or if someone makes them?

Finally got it, once I figured out the entire clip comes out (I thought the plastic was "grabbing" onto the vehicle...
Anyway, did whole thing, Dynomat on both sides, sealed up perfectly...
Bass output from Pioneer 10" dual voice coil.... Not good.
More or less seems stock to me. Basically you have to get an amp or it's not worth the effort/money looks like.

No, you must use an 8 Ohm woofer, or a 4 ohm dual voice coil with the coils wired in series. Also you want a "Free air" or "infinite baffle" type woofer.

One 8 ohm VC subwoofer will match the Audi B8 S4 BO subwoofer impedance.
Here is the C108 Kicker, 8 ohm Comp This woofer works fine for Infinite baffle.
If you decided to add an external amp, this is one option.
Kicker KX400.1 Monoblock KX Series 400W Class-D Amplifier
A dual 4 ohm VC could be wired in series for 8 ohm match or used with one VC for 4 ohms or two in series for 2 ohms.
