Change thermostat on 4 year old S4 with low mileage?
From reading online about other B8.5 S4 owners’ experiences, it sounds like the thermostat craps out around the 60-80k mile range. My 2015 S4 has pretty low mileage; only at 37k right now. Do you guys think length of time should also be a factor in when to change the thermostat? I prefer to take care of things before they become a problem as I don’t like to be hit with surprises and be stranded on the side of the road.

i would wait until it fails. First of all,you may get rid of the car for numerous reasons before it fails Secondly, there are usually warning signs to indicate it is about to fail(they usually fail closed which is not the best scenario. Thirdly,You need to take off the the supercharger to get at the t stat..That also exposes the water pump,PCV valve, and coolant tube all of which can also fail. When one fails, replace all the components so you only pay for labor to remove SC once.
