Considering trading in my S5 for a new S4
#31
All of your arguments against mine are for the RS4. I think the RS4 is awesome, never said it wasn't. But we established that the motor is DIFFERENT from the S5. I dont understand why youre still throwing all of this stuff towards me showing how well the RS4 responds and performs well with mods. I always said the S5 doesn't, and you still havent proven me to be 'flat wrong' yet.
I still doubt an S5 can be in the mid-high 12s and trapping above 110 with just a tune and exhaust.
Anyway, nice video.

If you don't know how closely related the S5 and RS4 motors are, that's my fault for assuming you did. They're very closely related. You seem to think they're polar opposites. That's not close to the case.
Here...have a read

The point of the RS4 video was that you keep asking for dynos and timeslips, and I said they'll release all the info in a video, like the one posted. If there was an S5 video, I'd have posted it. The point was further made that this is the type of stuff you completely missed out on as an S5 owner. You saw milltek exhaust for $2000 and 5 whp...APR or GIAC tunes for $1000 and 5 whp...and assumed the rest don't work. I saw the same stuff and assumed the same thing about my B7 S4...that is until JHM showed up and delivered a package of mods that kicked ***. Same with the RS4. Same with the S5 (they're even developing longtube headers for the S5).
So I'm not sure why you think I'm 'against' you...I am not. I just don't like when forum myths are passed off as fact.
As for your comment about an S5 with tune and exhaust mods not being able to run high 12s @ 110, I think that's fair if you're talking Milltek and APR/GIAC. If you're talking JHM 93 tune and JHM's decatted downpipes + catback, I think 12.60 @ 110 is very likely...nevermind possible. Again...there are JHM tuned S5 4.2 cars out there. The performance gains are solid.
You keep assuming the S5 4.2 FSI won't respond to mods...but lets look at the history
B6/7 S4 4.2 stock - 13.8 @ 101-102
B6/7 S4 4.2 with JHM tune, exhaust, couple of other mods - 12.8-12.9 @ 106-109
B6/7 S4 4.2 with JHM tune, exhaust, manifold, headers 12.70 @ 111
B7 RS4 stock 12.8-13.0 @ 106-108
B7 RS4 with JHM tune, exhaust, rotors/clutch - 12.2 @ 112 (2 cars)
Why you think the S5 4.2 FSI, the sister engine to the RS4, which is even further detuned and neutered for the GT S5 is suddenly going to NOT respond to mods is hard to understand.
