They cannot be locked.

I often keep bottles of water in them...they can hold a medium sized bottle of water...12-16 ounces. One per drawer. On super hot days they really help keep the water cool while the car is sitting in a parking lot.

very popular on previous models for various things

wallet
gun
weed
sunglasses (they were rubber lined)

I personally use mine in my B7 for sunglasses but on my B8 I didn't bother getting the accessory drawer.

Maybe I should because the sunglasses holder in the B8 is completely useless. Maybe for john lennon glasses that pop-down thing would work, but otherwise, way too small.

Not lockable but I fit an XD Compact in there once.

Here is Audi Enthusiast's great, highly detailed and well photographed install of the under seat storage bins:

Now we know why the S4 in the US is cheaper - some cost cutting includes the drawers and automatic side mirrors.
It's not really cheaper. Slightly more expensive. A fully loaded B7 in 07-08 was around $54,000...while a fully loaded B8 is about $58,000 (but has all kinds of crazy new gadgetry that didn't exist in 08 like side assist and auto-cruise and SD/ADS). Cheaper base price on the B8 giving flexibility which is really nice. To do so, they eliminated stuff like silk nappa leather seats (which were standard and are now a $1000 upcharge) and memory seats etc. which are buried in packages now vs. standard.

Still great value. Base MT6 + NAV + CF + leather = killer car for $51-52,000 MSRP. Just have to live without a couple of things...but who cares. Folding mirrors? I've used mine 5 times in 4 years.

I was actually comparing it to European price (not the previous S4) LOL. The S4 in Europe has the folding mirror + the drawer, but it cost $78,000 (54,600 euros), while you can get it in the US for $53K - $59K. But I'll take it as it is.

A Norwegian guy said that it cost $120,000 in Norway.

It must cost $160,000 in the Philippines, because a BMW 328i coupe in the Philippines is $116,000 and the bimmer is only $40k compared to a $55K S4.

they have some crazy *** taxes on high performance cars in Norway

there was a guy with a B6 A4 TDI...and he did a full conversion (no engine though lol) to a B7 RS4.

Australian guys probably pay around $100,000 for the B8 S4 too. Nuts.
